A Glasgow newspaper reports that a curry house has insured a picture
of a rat, sprayed on its wall by legendary graffiti artist Banksy,
for £20,000. Staff at the Nakodar Grill believe the rodent,
carrying a paint pot and roller, is one of the street artist's
trademark designs.
The faded image had been hidden for years by weeds and is partly
painted over but now it has been framed, an alarm installed, and
insured for £20,000.
Restaurant boss Johnnie Ginda, said: "Since news of the
discovery we have been inundated with requests from people to see it.
"Many people are having a curry with their Banksy viewing. It
has been fantastic for business. But we decided to frame and alarm it
to protect the work.
"We also decided it was important to insure it - and were
advised that £20,000 would be the right figure." |
