The second awarding
of the Mood Food Restaurant Awards (MoFo's) was
announced today with the aim of highlighting the top Asian
restaurants around Britain as recommended by the magazine's
experienced editorial team and The Federation of Specialist Restaurants.
These awards differ from other awards in the industry
in that they aim to be a very real guide to those restaurants that
can be relied on for good class food and service in almost every
county in Britain and serves to emphasise the high standards the
industry has achieved. With some 9500 Indian/Bangladeshi/Pakistani
restaurants in Britain, only slightly less Chinese and a growing
number of Thai, there is a continuing growth of those that are head
and shoulders above the others and the MoFo's look to
acknowledge these. London has the greatest number of winners not
surpisingly but West Midlands have 10 featured restaurants and
Scotland and Surrey are also well represented.
Award winners will be allowed to feature the winner's
logo acknowledging their award as a guide to customers.
Editor Peter Grove said, "Our team took its usual
exhaustive look at the industry and has come up with a very special
list of those restaurants we feel offer something special to the
curry fan. I have visited most of them personally over recent years
and have some local favourites such as Sesame in new Malden
near where I live, Le Raj in Epsom and Mango Lounge in
Windsor but have restaurants we love to visit when possible all over
the country."
The awards are determined in conjunction with The
Federation of Specialist Restaurants and the entire list of awards
can be seen on www.fedrest.com.
As an innovation, editors Peter & Colleen Grove
have chosen their Top Ten 'Best in Britain' plus their top choice in
the Chinese and Thai sectors. Said Grove, "These restaurants
present the very best as far as we are concerned, incorporating
fantastic cuisine, great service and a wonderful atmosphere. Each one
has its own special something for the discerning diner to discover."
