The Raja of Kent restaurant near Tenterden is to host a special
gourmet dining evening to mark its 6th anniversary on Thursday 23rd
September.
The 2009 winner of Kent Restaurant Awards for 'Best Indian' will
serve a an exquisite 5-course tasting menu, showcasing its finest
dishes including delicacies such as scallop, pheasant, duck and
venison. Each course will be served with a matched wine supplied by
Hix & Buck, which is run by a former Bollywood dancer.
Tickets, which include authentic live entertainment, cost £55.
"A tasting menu is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the
quality of our cooking, with many unique dishes using local
ingredients," explained owner, RK Raja adding, "I want
diners to be more adventurous in their choices to fully experience
the real pleasures offered by a truly fine Indian dining experience."
And many curry eaters give little thought to the wines to order to
accompany their meal.
"The very nature of Indian food means that people need to know
their way round a wine list and choose accordingly, to best enhance
the whole dining experience" said Hix & Buck founder and
former Bollywood dancer, Chix Chandaria. "My mission is to help
educate the curry lover about the different characteristics of wines
on offer. so they don't blindly order just 'a glass of white' without
knowing what it is or a totally bland Pinot Grigio that does nothing
for the food."
Hix & Buck wines are served on the TV's F-Word, were named in
Channel Four's Top Ten Christmas drinks and were chosen to accompany
the gala dinner at the Kent Restaurant Awards in January. Hix &
Buck exclusively represents a number of French vineyards, who produce
excellent wines, but on too small a scale to interest the multiples
and retailing giants.
Set in a rural location in a former coaching inn, the reputation for
the Raja of Indian's is such that customers are drawn from across the
Kent , with many regulars travelling on a weekly basis from London.
Booking is essential at weekends in the modern 100-seater restaurant
that hosts regular music tribute nights. |
