Royal
China Club Chef Clinches This Year's Chinese Masterchef Title
Tuan Bau
Truong from the Royal China Club in Baker Street has beaten last
year's winner, Alex Chow of Kai Mayfair, to win the prestigious title.
Two hundred
and fifty spectators attended the annual competition at Westminster
Kingsway Catering College, organised by Westminster City Council in
partnership with the Learning and Skills Council and the London China
Town Chinese Association.
The
competition is part of Westminster Council's drive to celebrate good
food hygiene practice and Chinese culinary talent amongst top chefs
in Westminster.

To qualify for
the competition, restaurants throughout Westminster nominated a chef,
and environmental health officers from the council visited each
restaurant to carry out a food hygiene inspection.
The winning
chef was judged on an abalone starter, a duck dish, a lobster dish, a
rice dish and a vegetable dish. After scooping the £1,000 prize
on offer, Mr Troung said "I am very happy to have won this
competition". |

The Deputy
Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Kevin Gardner, presented the award to
Mr Troung. "The food prepared today is fantastic and could
easily grace any emperor's table in China. We as a council are
responsible for making sure restaurants in Westminster have a high
standard of food hygiene, and today's competition helps to raise that standard".
