December
2005 saw the launch of Imli, a new Indian food concept, set in the
heart of the West End in London. Launched by the team behind Michelin
starred Tamarind Restaurant, Imli offers a casual, but sophisticated
dining experience, with innovative cooking that is both accessible
and affordable.
Executive
Chef, Samir Sadekar (ex-Sous Chef from Tamarind) has an exciting
array of beautifully prepared dishes for sharing with friends, family
and work colleagues in a setting designed to mirror the traditional
meets modern tone of the menu.
Imli guests
experience a variety of tastes, textures and ingredients as they work
their way through the menu of Light and Refreshing, New Traditions,
Signature Dishes and Dessert items. Featured Imli dishes range from
mushroom, ginger and coconut kababs (£3.25) from the Light and
Refreshing Menu to something a little more substantial like masala
grilled chicken with cumin mash and avocado sauce (£6.50) from
the New Traditions Menu. Other highlights include Imli's classic
Signature Dishes, aubergines tossed with curry leaves and burnt
chillies (£4.75) and coley fish curry flavoured with ginger and
ajwain (£5.25), both of which are rich in texture and taste, yet
neither heavy nor bloating. The innovative desserts include carrot
fudge, a refreshing chocolate and orange zest ice cream, and the
unusual Indian cardamom caramel custard.
To complement
the above Imli also offers a selection of wine by the glass; a range
of Indian and non-Indian beers as well as original, healthy and
all-natural fruit drinks like a passion, mango and mint juice or
thyme lemonade.
