Las Iguanas Opens In The O2

Las Iguanas joins some of the world's best-known leisure brands as it opens for business in The O2.

With more than 5000 sq feet to play with, including an all-weather roof terrace overlooking the Thames, this will be a landmark site for this burgeoning independent group, which has 13 sites well established across the UK.

Top quality entertainment is the driving force behind this exciting new era for the former 'Millennium Dome' and Las Iguanas will be bringing a vibrant slice of Latin life to the mix. Renowned for its authentic pan-South American food and for producing and importing its own brand of Brazil's national spirit Cachaça, Las Iguanas opens at London's flagship leisure complex on July 19th.

Vibrant and atmospheric with friendly service, sassy salsa sounds, striking decor, sunny terraces, sizzling fajitas and cool cachaça cocktails - the Las Iguanas experience will bring sunshine to this vast arena, as well as a slick food and drink operation that'll deliver the expectations of the target audience.

Foodies can look forward to tucking into a diverse menu inspired by authentic regional dishes from Brazil, Colombia and Argentina, including Xinxim (Brazilian lime chicken), Moqueca (coconut and tomato curry), fajitas with various fillings (rib-eye steak, lemon chicken or Portobello mushroom and butternut squash) and char-grilled sea bass drizzled with lemon and basil oil.

A tasty Tapas selection includes mouth watering fresh brie and mango tortilla parcel on mango salsa and split tiger prawns in chilli butter on freshly-baked bread. Las Iguanas serve up a light lunch/early evening tapas offer, great fiesta menus for friends to share, imaginative food for children - and everything is cooked fresh to order.

For those looking for a drink with a difference head to the Cachaçaria (the spirit bar) for traditional Brazilian cocktails made with Las Iguanas Magnifica. The house brand Cachaça is distilled from sugarcane grown on Las Iguanas' own plantation just outside Rio - it doesn't get more authentic than that! A fearsome spirit by itself, it's delicious served with crushed lime and sugar in Las Iguanas' signature Caipirinha or raspberry liqueur and elderflower and topped with bubbly as a Cana Royale.

A tried and tested success story, Las Iguanas has been bringing a slice of Latin life to a growing number of cities for 16 years, including Bristol, Bath, Cardiff, Nottingham, Leicester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Brighton, Oxford and at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Las Iguanas at The O2 will offer a 200-seat restaurant on two levels. Commercial director Ajith Jaya-Wickrema said: "We have opened in many fantastic locations around the country, but to be at the heart of London's most futuristic venue with its unprecedented capacity to entertain so many thousands of people every day is an exciting challenge. It's a great location that's already a magnet for people who enjoy quality leisure time, and we look forward to enhancing their experience with our unique hospitality."
