Simtom Wins Wholesaler of the Year Award 2007

Simtom Food Products have scooped the '2007 Wholesaler of the Year' award at the prestigious Ugandan Asians in Britain event held on Saturday 9 June, at the Maher Community Centre, in Ravensbridge Road, Leicester.

The event was organised in recognition of the outstanding commercial success by many Ugandan Asian industry champions who were forced to leave Uganda during the 1972 'Idi Amin' anti-asian crackdown.

Jai Chandarana, MD of Simtom Food Products said: "Today's honour is a fitting token of recognition for all the blood, sweat and tears that so many of us East African Asians have had to suffer during those dark days back in the 70's. Our success today has been 'birthed' by the hard lessons we all had to learn."

When asked about the Simtom brand, he commented: "There are many industry players in our game, many have come and many have gone, but clearly the brands that have gained loyalty and recognition over the years are still here, fighting and battling for market share. Simtom is such a brand and after 30 years in the business, we believe we have a lot more to offer our customers by way of new tastes and flavours".

The event featured 15 award categories and many 'lifetime' awards for service to the Ugandan Asian Community in the UK.
