Westminster
Kingsway Catering College has announced its Chinese Masterchef 2008
winner as Zhan Hong Yu of the Royal China Club.
Eight
shortlisted entrants competed for a £1,000 first prize,
including flights to Hong Kong, and were judged by a team of top
chefs, including celebrity chef Nancy Lam and Chinese Masterchef
William Poon, on their skill, creativity, originality and standard of
food hygiene.
The
competition, which is now in its fifth year, is run by Westminster
Council's Food Hygiene Team to highlight the city, the home of
Chinatown, as the number one destination for oriental food in the UK.
Norman Fu,
Senior Chef Lecturer at Westminster Kingsway, said: "We are
really pleased to be hosting the competition once again. The event
brings members of the local Chinese Community into Westminster
Kingsway College to see the range of culinary courses that we offer."
The college
offers a wide range of hospitality and catering courses, as well as
exchange links with colleges in Beijing. Visit www.westking.ac.uk
