Kochhar of Michelin starred Benares has announced that his newest
restaurant, Vatika, will be opening its doors to the public in
July this year.
The Saturday Kitchen regular, who
is renowned for his innovative Indian-come-English-style cuisine, is
expanding his empire and opening a fine-dining restaurant in the
heart of Hampshire. Situated in Wickham, Vatika is surrounded by
award-winning vineyards and will serve a rare and varied wine
collection with his dishes that are created from purely locally
sourced ingredients.
"My vegetable farmer is
opposite the vineyard, the beef is just down the road and the poultry
farmer is directly behind us," Kochhar said. "Having
such fresh, quality local ingredients will inspire a great menu"
The restaurant will also be
offering wine masterclasses, along with luxury hotel and restaurant packages.
And while Kochhar will remain as
the Head Chef at his first restaurant, Benares in central London, he
will be handing control of the Vatika kitchen to current chef, Jitin Joshi.
