Third Paperino's
Opens in Glasgow

Popular Italian restaurant Paperino's opened its third restaurant in Glasgow on 10th June at 78 St Vincent Street, coinciding with the 75th birthday of Walt Disney's Donald Duck, from which the restaurant derives its name.

Home until recently to the eponymous restaurant previously owned by millionaire bookmaker and businessman Freddie Williams, a considerable sum has been invested in transforming Paperino's @ 78 St Vincent into an intimate and relaxed environment with an emphasis on traditional Italian cuisine in a city centre setting.

The 130 cover restaurant has a ground floor and a mezzanine level with a private room at the rear for dining in a more exclusive setting.

Mark Billington, managing director at Paperino's @ 78 St Vincent, said, "We know already that Glaswegian's love the Paperino's offering of freshly made authentic Italian food and we're delighted that we can now extend that offering to them from a prime location in the heart of the city centre at 78 St Vincent Street, just a few hundred yards along from George Square.

"Our refurbishment has seen the creation of a bar area at the front of the restaurant and a significant modernisation of the kitchen to the rear to offer a restaurant designed to appeal to business customers, families and friends looking to catch up over a delicious Italian meal.

"A unique feature of the restaurant is that passers-by on West Nile Street can see straight into the heart of the working kitchen, catching a glimpse of a brigade of chefs hard at work in their gleaming whites as they prepare an extensive range of pasta, pizza and meat and fish dishes."

Stefano and Sandro Giovanazzi opened the original Paperino's in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow in 1991. Renowned for its traditional Italian cuisine, it quickly established its position as a firm favourite with Glasgow's Italian community. Its success was such that sister restaurant, Paperino's West End, opened at 227 Byres Road four years ago.
