Carluccio's Goes No Smoking

Antonio Carluccio's eponymous group of Italian caffés are to become fully non-smoking from 3rd April 2006 in all of their 25 outlets as well as future locations.

The announcement is being made now following the recent parliamentary decision to legislate against smoking in public places, which is likely to come into force early next year.

Simon Kossoff, managing director comments:

"In our trial non-smoking restaurants, staff and customers alike, some of whom are smokers themselves, have overwhelmingly supported the change. Their feedback is very important to us and, whether customer or team member, we want them to enjoy the Carluccio's experience to the full which for most people means breathing smoke free air.

The majority of Carluccio's caffés have outside terraces where smokers will be welcome".

Carluccio's is amongst a number of highly regarded, high profile restaurants to respond to public opinion and ban smoking.
