Dilli Included In New Michelin Guide

Cheshire's Dilli restaurant in Altrincham has been included in the new Michelin new 2006 handbook &ldots; marking it out as one of the best Indian restaurants in the country.

It becomes only the third Michelin-rated Indian restaurant in the North West - the other two are in Manchester and Liverpool - among only 27 in the whole of England, outside London.

The Michelin Guide, which grades more than 17,000 eating places praises the "quality ingredients" of Dilli's "totally authentic Indian dishes".

And the inspector singles out the "intriguing" interior décor - describing it as "a mix of Indian wooden fretwork and minimalism".

Dilli opened, in Stamford New Road, Altrincham, little over a year ago and has built a unique reputation as the only Ayurvedic restaurant in the North West. The "real taste of India" menu was devised around Ayurvedic principles - a 5,000 year-old Eastern teaching that uses ingredients to nourish the body and counteract or prevent specific illnesses.

"Dilli has gained high praise from customers in the short time we have been open," says chef director Ravi Bajaj, "and to now achieve national recognition with an envied Michelin rating is a tribute to the most professional restaurant team I have ever worked with."

Dilli - soon to launch a new restaurant and outside catering menu of traditional regional Indian dishes - has previously won a Platinum Award from the Internet dining magazine and restaurant directory Quality Food Online, was nominated in the Manchester Food and Drink Festival awards and in the 'Best Newcomer' category of the Hi-Life Restaurant of the Year Gala Awards.
