Launch
of Glasgow Based Meals Website |
A Glasgow
based website which allows members of the public to bid as little as
one penny over the Internet for meals in the city's restaurants has
recently been launched by Glasgow entrepreneur, Sukhvir Dhillon. In
what is believed to be the first website of its kind anywhere in the
world, www.priceyourmeal.com
has recruited over fifty of Glasgow's top restaurants including such
well known names as, Rococo, Red Onion, Paperinos and Kama Sutra to
bring customers the chance to bid online to buy meals at the lowest
possible price.
Said Sukhvir,
who was born and bred in the city's West End and lives there with his
wife and child, 'I got the idea of bidding for meals from eBay where
I've bought and sold lots of items over the years. Priceyourmeal.com
is based on the same principle but simply applies it to matching
diners with restaurants. I've spent the last year writing most of the
software, testing it, then going round restaurants persuading them to
let customers bid for meals'.
Priceyourmeal.com
is backed by leading Glasgow restaurateur Alan Tomkins who
immediately saw the attraction of inviting hungry diners to use the
internet to bid for special offer restaurant meals: 'I subscribed for
a small share in Sukhvir's business because I could see its potential
not only here in Glasgow, but right across the world. 'I'm certain
that the Glasgow public, with its proven willingness to support
exciting new concepts to going out and having a great time at a great
price will take up priceyourmeal.com with enthusiasm'. Mr Tomkins
confirmed that all of his restaurants, including Papingo, Gamba and
Urban Grill will be offering customers the opportunity to bid for
meals on the priceyourmeal.com website.
Said Sukhvir,
who graduated in pharmacy from Strathclyde University and is also a
Master of Business Administration, 'I'm hoping my fellow-Glaswegians
will find the website a big help in planning their nights out; I then
plan to start offering similar deals across Scotland and the rest of
the UK'.
