South Asian Earthquake Appeal Buffet and Raffle Following the earthquake disaster in Pakistan/India/Afghanistan, Kiplings' last annual charity do in 2005 was dedicated to assisting this cause. The event raised funds from two concepts - an eat as much as you like buffet held through the day and secondly, raffling off of tickets with the winning ticket prize consisting of an invitation for Kiplings Chef Tariq Mahmood and Director Mohammed Rafiq (Raf - BIBA 2005 winner of the Front of the House Award) to visit the winner's home and to cook and serve a three course meal for 6 people at the winner's, Tim, Christine and Alex Lester, residence. The combined Buffet and Raffle generated a whopping £5,650.00. An earlier event, of a few weeks, for the same appeal consisted of a bid off for a meal at Kiplings for 8 persons that was auctioned on a radio station and fetched £1,000 - this is on top of the buffet/raffle fund.
