Teenager Stabbed At Curry House

A teenager was stabbed in the middle of a West England restaurant by a knifeman who also knocked over a heroic waiter who gave chase. The 16-year-old customer was stabbed several times in the head, arm and back as he enjoyed a curry at the Polash Indian Restaurant in Mead Road, Gloucester.

"Other customers and staff attempted to detain the attacker who fled the scene in a silver Rover 211 saloon, " said a police spokesman. "He ran over a 19-year-old waiter before driving off." Both victims were detained in hospital overnight but the young waiter was released yesterday.

The teenage victim is believed to have suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and his condition was described as stable.

Police questioned a 39-year-old man arrested on suspicion of wounding.
