Bartender Beats Off 55 Countries To Land World Title |
Forget the
Oscars?.America's top mixers and shakers were out in force last night
to cheer on the finalists at TGI Friday's World Bar Tender Challenge
competition in Las Vegas.
Fresh from
celebrating his European crown, the UK's Pete Marshall, mixed it up
with a flawless high-energy, freestyle routine in front of a 1,000
strong crowd to take the 2006 World Bartender Champion title.
Leading
bartenders from all over the globe competed for the honour at the
legendary Ceasar's Palace Hotel, Las Vegas but Marshall's
master-class in mixing, shaking, pouring and flair techniques, meant,
the coveted crown will be staying on home soil.
Representing
Europe, having already beaten off over 1,700 contestants to reach the
World Final, Kent born Marshall created a US storm with his overall
cocktail moves and drinks menu knowledge.
From
Metropolitans to Margaritas, Marshall proved to the judges that he
could even put Cocktail star Tom Cruise to the test! Pete has
something else in common with the famous Cocktail star ? they were
both taught the tricks of the trade at TGI Friday's.
Pete, who
works at TGI Friday's Bluewater, commented: "'I'm absolutely
over the moon, lost for words in-fact. Winning the European title was
fantastic but to be going home World Champion is a dream come true ?
and wow what a place to do it!"
