London's top Malaysian restaurant Awana, opens in China

Following its huge success as London's first fine dining Malaysian restaurant, the critically acclaimed Awana is taking its cuisine to the people of China and again will set the precedence becoming Beijing's first Malaysian restaurant.

Awana, Beijing will be located in the suitably cosmopolitan Lady Street, popular for its trendy bars and restaurants, thus following the successful UK formula where the restaurant is located in Chelsea's Sloane Avenue in London. The Malaysian High Commission is located just a five minute walk from the restaurant.

Awana Group, whose London venture gained an AA rosette only 5 months after opening, will be launching the Beijing restaurant on 10th May 2007. A grand opening evening will be hosted by Malaysian-born owner Eddie Lim with celebrities such as Jimmy Choo and Michelle Yeoh, star of 'Memoirs of a Geisha' and forthcoming blockbuster 'Sunshine' in attendance.

Awana, Beijing, launches at a very exciting time, coinciding with Visit Malaysia Year 2007 celebrating 50 years of Malaysian independence. Owner Eddie Lim comments, "This is the first of a number of international openings for Awana - there will be several within the next two years. It is our very timely way of celebrating Visit Malaysia and taking this wonderfully diverse cuisine to the global market."

The menu at Awana, Chelsea features traditional Malaysian dishes with a selection of modern interpretations which have inspired diners in London.
