King Cobra is
a crafted lager which undergoes a brewing process more commonly
associated with Trappist ales. To reach its higher strength (of 8.0%
ABV), it is specially brewed using increased quantities of the same
ingredients that go into the original Cobra. It is then fermented a
second time in Belgium's world-renowned Rodenbach Brewery to bring
out all the subtleties and character of its fine ingredients. King
Cobra was the winner of a gold medal in its debut at Brussels'
prestigious Monde Selection World Quality Awards in 2006.
The launch of
the 375ml bottle is intended as an alternative to rather than a
replacement of the 750ml version. The Marketing Director of Cobra
Beer explains: "King Cobra has proved very popular with our
consumers so launching the smaller bottle is really about offering
people a choice. We anticipate the mini bottles will have a
particularly strong appeal in the on-trade market in style bars and
night clubs, for the discerning drinkers Cobra is targeting."
King Cobra was
first launched in late 2005 in the original 750ml bottles. Intended
in this format as a table beer for sharing with friends, King Cobra
was targeted at gastro pubs, restaurants and notably, the take home
market, thanks to King Cobra's versatility with different cuisines.
It has proved a tremendously successful addition to the Cobra range
and has secured a number of on-trade listings including the
nationwide Living Rooms chain and in the multiple-grocers is widely
available in Sainsbury's, Tesco, Waitrose and ASDA.
