Praise for Tom
Kime's Street Food:
"Whether you want to
bring back memories of a magical time abroad, or sample the delights
of far-flung places, this is the perfect book for you." Somerfield
Magazine
Using easily available
ingredients, celebrity catering supremo Tom Kime shares his deep
passion for Asian food in all its forms. Giving an irresistible
"tasting tour" around the unique flavours and fascinating
origins of Asian cuisine, Asian Bites sets out 90 step-by-step, easy
to follow "bite-sized" recipes from across the vast
continent, including Turkey, Afghanistan, India, China and Japan.
Grouped into mouth-watering
flavours such as "smoking hot," "sugar and spice"
and "fresh and aromatic," delectable dishes such as
Tamarind Beef with Peanuts, Burmese Turmeric Fishcakes and Sashimi of
Sea Bream with Hot Dressing are captured in stunning, glossy photographs.
Ingredients integral to Asian
cuisine are explained in colourful keynote spreads and mock-up menus
demonstrate how to mix and match recipes for any sort of gathering.
Asian Bites is also more than
simply recipes - it is a journey through and education in the
culinary traditions that abound across Asia, capturing the essence of
each recipe's country of origin.
So whether you are cooking an
intimate meal for two or catering for a lively party, you can easily
learn to create exotic "bites" that tantalise the taste
buds and fire the imagination.
Tom Kime learned his trade at
Rick Stein's Seafood restaurant in Padstow and is the former boss of
celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. Tom is extensively travelled and over
the years has researched the foods, market ingredients and
restaurants worldwide, including Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
His catering work has included
events such as his own wedding and that of former River Café
colleague Jamie Oliver - he has also cooked for a clientele that
includes celebrities such as Mick Jagger, Sam Neill and Kirsten
Dunst. Now a private chef and food consultant, Tom divides his time
between London and Sydney, where he lives with his Australian wife Kylie.
Tom Kime's second book, Street
Food, was published by Dorling Kindersley in 2007. He has enjoyed
success as a writer in the UK for BBC's Good Food Magazine and as a
presenter on his own show called Vietnam for Taste TV.
