National
Curry Week 2008 is shifting from its usual October timing to 23-29
November 2008 to coincide with World Food Market at Excel, London on
26/27th November.
This is to facilitate the finals
of The "60 Year Dish" Competition. Entries are already
flooding in from all over the world and the final few chosen from
written recipes will go head to head at World Food Market to decide a winner.
2007/8 celebrates 60 years of
Britain's favourite dish, Chicken Tikka Masala from its origins in
Moti Mahal, Delhi as Chicken Makhani. Ornaisers are looking for a
dish to stand for the next 60 years combining taste, health and
nutrition and that all-important acceptability by the public.
Initail entry will be via written
(or emailed) recipe. In September these will be judged by a panel of
experts and the finalists invited to a cook- off presentation at
World Food Market at Excel, London on 26/27th November during
National Curry Week.
Wineen Duvenage, a Food
Technologist in Johannesburg, plans to beat UK chefs with a recipe
for Bobotie, a South African classic, with a little twist to make it
even better. This a traditional dish, that has been a firm favourite
for many many years and can be seen as South Africa's traditional
take on the curry
Fame and fortune beckons the
winner! Can you create the new 60 Year Dish?
