George Leung is bringing restaurant-standard oriental food to the
takeaway market as Wok2go launches in Barkingside, Ilford.
George, who is well-known to
gourmets dining at his Cheshire stock-broker belt restaurant and to
specialist and premium food buyers in the big supermarket chains for
whom he has created dishes and sauces, created Wok2go as a unique
fast-food proposition.
This is the first Wok2go in the
South East of England, and is based on a recipe proven and highly
popular in the North West of England.
"The whole idea of
oriental food is that it is actually fast - it is meant to take
minutes or often just seconds to cook," said George.
"It also means that
because the food is cooked fast, the nutrients that other fast foods
are criticised for not having are well-preserved - and stay in the food."
Wok2go is cooking at 52 High
Street, Barkingside, Ilford, Essex IG6 2DH.
"Item for item, I believe
my menu is not just the tastiest but quite possibly the healthiest
takeaway food available in the area," said George.
"Make no mistake, it is
not cheap, but it is the best - we use fresh produce, less fat,
reduced salt and absolutely no MSG (monosodiumglutomate). The menu
includes all the mouth-watering oriental dishes that will be familiar
to people who regularly dine in Chinese and Thai restaurants.
"The food is cooked in
the traditional style - searing hot woks in an open-plan kitchen. The
customers see exactly what is going on, and enjoy the performance as
much as the food they take home."
