Raymond
Blanc's two Michelin starred restaurant is rewarded at Good
Housekeeping Awards
Le
Manoir aux Quat' Saisons, the 15th Century hotel and restaurant in
Oxfordshire run by chef patron Raymond Blanc OBE has been awarded
'Favourite Independent Restaurant' by Good Housekeeping readers.
At the sumptuous Good
Housekeeping Awards recently, Raymond Blanc OBE, chef-patron of the
two Michelin starred Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons and founder and
inspiration of Brasserie Blanc and Maison Blanc, was honoured by the
readers of Good Housekeeping.
The accolade was presented to
Blanc by Prue Leith, who with great fondness, congratulated him for
winning the award by a landside. Blanc accepted the award with a
characteristic humility topped off by a flourish - mentioning that he
hoped that the guests enjoyed the Maison Blanc cakes presented after
the ceremony.
Since opening in 1984, Le Manoir
aux Quat' Saisons has achieved the highest awards of any restaurant
and country house hotel in Great Britain and is regarded as one of
the very best in Europe. One of the few restaurants in the world to
retain 2 Michelin stars for 25 years, Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons
remains a Mecca for gourmets the world over.
2009 is a very special year for
Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons as it celebrates it's 25th Anniversary -
and Blanc and his team have a number of wonderful events organised
for this very special quarter of a century celebration.
The award of 'Favourite
Independent Restaurant' adds to the firmament of success and is
awarded to a restaurant, which has proved, in the eyes of the Good
Housekeeping readers a wonderful option when it comes to dining.
Raymond Blanc commented: "I
am thrilled to have received this wonderful award from the Good
Housekeeping readers. My team and I pride ourselves on creating a
unique experience to each and every guest and despite the current
gloom, I know that there is always room for excellence in everyone's hearts.
There are so many people I
would like to thank - my family, my team, those who have supported me
over the 25 years and of course the team at Orient-Express, who have
helped me to achieve iconic experiences for our guests.
This year will be a momentous
one for everyone involved with Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons and this
wonderful accolade from Good Housekeeping readers is a fabulous
addition to the other trophies we have been awarded. I will treasure
it forever and thank all Good Housekeeping readers from the bottom of
my heart."
