La Tasca launches healthier choice menu

La Tasca, the Spanish Tapas Restaurant and Bar is launching its first ever 'healthier choice' menu for customers looking to enjoy the dining out experience without stretching their waistline. The menu, which includes dishes such as Salmón Espaòol (salmon fillet served on a bed of wilted spinach raisins and pear) and Brochetas de Pollo (skewers of chicken breast and pepper marinated in paprika) forms part of the restaurant's new Spring and Summer menu.

With British women estimated to spend on average 31 years of their lives on a diet the new menu is expected to appeal to La Tasca's 65% female biased customer base who enjoy the freshly cooked authentic flavours of its Mediterranean dishes.*

La Tasca's signature dish, the paella is also receiving a makeover for the new menu. A new Valencian rice has been imported for La Tasca's four types of the traditional dish. Not only does the rice bring with it a regional authenticity, the new Valencian cooking method will reduce the time required to make the dish fresh for each customer, from 45 to just 20 minutes. Each paella, which is served in a traditional Spanish paella pan, is made to order and is teaming with fresh herbs and spices.

Further new dishes, perfect for summer, which join the menu include Croquetas de Jamón y Queso (Serrano ham and cheese croquettes, with roasted garlic mayonnaise), Ensalada de Pera y Jamón (Serrano ham and Pear salad) and Ensalada de Manzana y Queso Manchego (Manchego cheese and red apple salad).

Perry Huntley, Head of Food for La Tasca said, "Feedback from our customers has been that they wanted us to help identify healthier options on the menu and so with this is mind we created the new 'healthier choices' selection. These dishes are perfect for customers looking for a lighter, maybe lunchtime, option."

Brand Manager, Joanne Cox said; "This new menu is our best yet. With the special new ingredient in our paella's, Valencian rice, our signature dish can now become a quick lunchtime option for customers short on time. The use of the authentic Spanish rice and fresh ingredients mean that despite the reduced cooking time, there is absolutely no compromise on the quality and freshness of the made to order dish. With two delicious new Spanish salads joining the menu too, Spain is closer than you think!"
