Ken Hom Hosts Charity Dinner

Pacific Oriental, 1 Bishopsgate, London EC2
Sunday 14 May, from 6 pm

Celebrity chef Ken Hom will host an evening of culinary delights, entertainment and fundraising in May. He will welcome the cream of London's chefs as well as special VIP's in an effort to raise much-needed funds for international humanitarian charity Action Against Hunger. Ken aims to top the £31,000 raised at last year's banquet for the charity's work in the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami-affected regions.

Celebrity and top chefs such as Anton Edelmann, Henry Harris, Ross Burden, Theodore Kyriakou, Nancy Lam, Giancarlo Caldesi and many others have come forward to demonstrate their support of Action Against Hunger, who operate in some 40 countries, helping the charity to continue its work and remain at the forefront in the fight against hunger and malnutrition worldwide. The chefs will host tables giving diners the opportunity to rub shoulders with their favourite stars from the culinary scene. Guests will be treated to a Taittinger champagne and Singha beer reception and a sumptuous dinner with wines especially matched for each course supported by Penfolds, Bibendum and Enotria Winecellars. An auction and raffle will also take place in aid of the good cause. BBC's Nigel Barden will compere and guide the guests through the evening, which promises to be a fun-packed food and wine extravaganza.

Ken Hom's devotion to this annual event stems from Action Against Hunger's strong presence in south east Asia which is not only his home but where so many members of the Oriental Restaurant Group originate from. En route to Phuket when the tsunami struck last year, the plane on which Ken Hom was travelling was diverted away from danger. In view of the aftermath of the disaster, Ken generously offered to host a dinner over Chinese New Year last year at Pacific Oriental to help raise money in support of Action Against Hunger's relief work. Funds raised from this year's dinner will be channelled to a number of projects across the globe aimed at addressing not only hunger and malnutrition in the short term but also at helping people and communities to regain their autonomy and self-sufficiency for long-term sustainability.

Tickets for this dinner cost £100 each and are on sale now. To take part in this exclusive evening and to help Action Against Hunger raise much needed funds, please contact Julienne Ho on 020 7394 6300 or email j.ho@aahuk.org.
