Curry Fans Can Boost Hospice Appeal

FANS of Indian food can tuck into their takeaways knowing they are doing their bit for charity.

And it is all thanks to generous Rokib Ali, the owner of Biplob, in Wood Street, Swindon, who has agreed to donate 10 per cent of the proceeds from every takeaway order made at the restaurant for the next three months.

"We decided to give 10 per cent as we want to help the Prospect@Home charity - the campaign has been running since the weekend and we've already raised £70," he said.

The restaurant is also offering a 10 per cent discount to customers on their takeaway but if they choose to waive that, a full 20 per cent will go to the charity.

The Swindon Advertiser has backed the Prospect@Home appeal since it was launched last autumn by the Prospect Hospice, and the Get Together idea should bring in even more.

The idea behind Prospect@Home is to fund a team of nurses and carers who will offer the expert care already available at Prospect Hospice, but in people's own homes.

This means people can stay at home for as long as they wish, rather than be admitted to the hospice or hospital, as so often happens now.

Mr Ali is hoping the restaurant will be able to raise up to £200 for the campaign.

He said: "We hope people will take the opportunity to have a good meal and help charity."
