Growth
In Cooking Sauce Market
A
new report by Research and Markets has found that the total UK
market for cooking sauces and food seasonings has experienced steady
growth since 2001 and was worth £570m by the end of 2005; a
growth of 4% since 2004.
It
is not all positive news, however. The increasing demand for ready
meals has meant that the market for traditional cooking sauces and
seasonings has seen a slight decline in sales. In 2005 only three out
of ten consumers bought in either category.
However,
the report shows that with consumers increasing appetite for new
cuisines and healthy eating; sauces with more authentic ingredients,
organic sauces and seasonings and healthier-eating options of sauces
are all selling well and commanding premium prices for the producers.
Another
growth area has been the development of products that can be used as
marinades. The development of marinades has enabled some brands to
develop a year-round presence, suitable for barbecues in summer and
hot dishes in winter.
The
report concludes that if suppliers focus on adding value to their
sauces, then for the next five years to 2010, the market for cooking
sauces and food seasonings will grow between 1.8% and 2.3% each year.
The
chilled food market in the UK increased between 2000 and 2005,
growing by an average annual rate of 5.3%, reveals a new report by
Research and Markets.
The
report "Chilled Food in the UK to 2010" also reveals that
the leading company in the market in 2005 was Northern Foods plc,
followed by Kerry Group plc.
