West Country Firm Sells Tapas To Spain

A seafood company from Devon is doing the culinary equivalent of selling coals to Newcastle.

Seafare Products in Paignton has begun selling its range of marinated tapas dishes to tapas bars in Spain.

And as well as success in Spain the company's products - including squid and chilli mussels - are also proving popular in Poland and Kazakhstan. Spokesman, Pete Southwell said it was also hoping to expand further and sell to Italy and Portugal.

The company marinates and bottles a range of seafood products including octopus, cuttlefish and garlic prawns.

Mr Southwell said the firm, which employs seven people, has now had export orders of about £90,000.

"Our exports have really taken off," he said, "and we're looking forward to doing even more in the future."
