The Burrito Comes to Oxford!

Burritos, fajita burritos, burrito bowls, tacos & salads with delicious chicken, steak, pork and vegetarian fillings, all served from the selection of fresh burrito bar ingredients to eat in or take out.

It already has a cult following on facebook - you only have to visit the 'Burritos in Oxford' group to see that this is a very welcome addition to the town centre, and it also becomes apparent that up until now, Oxford didn't have anywhere serving a truly fresh, wholesome, and made just as you like it burrito!

The Mexican grill on St Michael's Street in Oxford has opened it's doors to a very hungry and very happy Oxford, serving the best of the best in meat and vegetarian burritos for diners to eat in or take out. Amongst those lining up patiently for The Mission to open for the first time were an excitable crowd of American fans studying in Oxford and who have said their dreams have come true now that they can have a taste of home while staying in the university city.

With the added advantage of a license, this is the perfect destination for a quick beer and a meal that actually fills you up, before heading to the theatre or a wine bar. The Mission is also a great lunch choice while out shopping, giving you a whole lot more goodness than most options.

With their years spent in the heart of the Mission District in San Francisco, the home of the burrito, owners Jan and Sharon Rasmussen are doing it all as it should be done - California-Mexican style. The Mission has already developed quite a following and Jan has been overwhelmed by the response so far.

"It's been truly fantastic, we knew Oxford was without really good, wholesome Cal-Mex cuisine, and having lived in San Francisco for some time, we always missed the food when we returned to the UK. We always talked about opening a restaurant over home made burritos!".

It seems that the unbeatable tastes and flavours of pinto beans and guacamole are getting tastes buds all over the city very excited! And with a Mexican chef on board, you really can expect an authentic experience at The Mission - "the owners are true to their California roots" one customer said on opening day.

The thing is, everyone's perfect burrito is different. Whether you want extra cheese or no cheese, hot salsa or mild salsa, each burrito is made specifically to order. And these are not just burritos. Food on the go can be found in the same place as wholesome, freshly prepared ingredients that taste fantastic. The focus is on fresh - so there definitely no microwaves or freezers in residence at The Mission. The one and only time they ever need a tin opener is when those cheeky tomatillos (little green Mexican tomatoes used in salsa) are out of season and can't be picked in the UK!

At The Mission, vegetables are taken very seriously indeed. As you move along the counter choosing your fillings you'll see that they play a very important part in the ingredients being served, and while there is everything for the meat lovers, there's nothing better than a black bean and guacamole burrito. Here you'll find a well balanced selection with fantastic vegetarian food on offer.

So, the burrito has finally come to Oxford, bringing with it a Cal-Mex revolution, and much to the delight of this town!
