The
Federation of Specialist Restaurants, the organisation that began
over a year ago to promote the interests of restaurants ranging from
Indian to Italian, launched their new, independent website on 9th May
at www.fedrest.com.
FSR grew out
of The National Dome Grading Scheme which started in 1994 to
highlight the excellence of Indian and Oriental restaurants in
Britain. With Michelin elevating 4 Indian restaurants and several
Oriental and Italian restaurant to one star status, it was felt it
was time to redefine objectives and FSR was born.
There will
now be a membership drive to recruit restaurants all over the country
to join the existing members which include the original members of NDGS.
"As
well as providing services ranging from press release creation and
distribution, website building and insurance, we want the website to
contain as much information as possible for those working in our sector,"
said Peter Grove, President of The Federation.
With this in
mind the website not only contains details of members and and
thousands of potential members but also a special 'Chef's Corner'
containing information that both kitchen and front of house staff
might find useful. This includes a complete section on basic sauces ;
a very useful look at wines and even a section on vegetables, their
seasons and their qualities.
Access to the
website information is free and if you wish to join FSR during the
special rate introductory period you can do so online at www.fedrest.com
or by calling 020 8399 4831.
