Oriental
food and drink specialist Asiana Ltd has launched a new initiative to
help raise funds for charities across the UK and India.
The national importer,
distributor and retailer of Chinese produce has unveiled an annual
programme of fund-raising events, which will begin with an inaugural
charity ball on 30 May in Nottingham.
The ball, hosted by GMTV's Priya
Kaur Jones, is based on a Hollywood meets Bollywood theme and will
see up to 400 guests enjoying an Indian banquet, cocktail bar,
auction and a group of traditional Bollywood dancers.
Proceeds from the event will be
split equally between Cancer Research, Mencap and Isha Vidya, a
charity dedicated to providing education for children in the
undeveloped and rural communities of India.
"As a business we are
lucky enough to have enjoyed sustained growth and success,"
commented Mandy Sandhu, Asiana's international manager and charity
coordinator. "This new fundraising scheme is our way of giving
something back.
"The charity ball is the
first in a long line of events being planned to hopefully raise
thousands of pounds for those organisations that are dedicated to
helping others."
Asiana has also launched a
charity website, where visitors will be able to get information on
forthcoming events, find details of the supported charities and even
make an online donation.
"We are already seeing
the donations flooding in," added Mandy. "It's great
to see that even when times are hard, people are still managing to
dig deep and help out worthy causes."
