Top
internet takeaway curry company CurriesOnline.com will be sponsoring
a competition that has been popular for years under the now defunct
"Best in Britain Awards" but will be new for 2009 to
National Curry Week.
As the only annual award that is
totally chosen by curry customers rather than experts or judges the
"Customer's Restaurant of the Year" competition has enjoyed
considerable support and highlighted such exceptional community
restaurants as Mohammed Rafiq's Kipling's in Bradford, twice a winner.
Under the rules of the event,
restaurants are invited to put themselves forward for consideration
to win the title for 2009. Customers will have to send their email
votes to groveint@aol.com or,
alternatively, votes can be collected by the restaurant and they can
then send them in, giving names and emails (no address or other
contact details). Originally votes were just based on the numbers of
named individuals but after receiving some entries that were
obviously photostats of Yellow Pages and other directories, email
details were included for spot checks if verification is needed.
In past years competing
restaurants have gone to great lengths to get customers to vote in
numbers including voting booths and special events and it expected
that with the support of CurriesOnline.com,
the first year of the competition under the auspices of National
Curry Week will again generate tens of thousands of votes with the
last day of National Curry Week in November being the last day of voting.
