At a
time when energy costs are spiralling and every penny counts in
running a successful business, the Intelligenzia chiller from
refrigeration specialist Husky Group has special features designed to
reduce operational costs to a minimum - in an environmentally aware
fashion.
The Intelligenzia is the
cleverest chiller on the market. It is user programmable, turning
itself off after closing time or if its micro-sensors detect that the
door has not been opened for the last two hours, for example. It also
turns itself down when not in constant use.
When the door is opened, the
Intelligenzia turns itself back on - all ways of saving money for the
business in the process. The goods inside remain unaffected by this
energy-saving activity due to the Intelligenzia's deep insulation.
Chief Executive Geoff Thomasson
said: "The Intelligenzia chiller can save energy and money
for any supermarket, convenience store, hotel, bar or restaurant.
Chillers left on all day are unnecessarily expensive and also
contribute to global warming. In contrast, the Intelligenzia is only
actively working when it needs to be."
The Intelligenzia's secret is a
combination of clever electronics, including a new "soft
start" compressor technology. It turns on with a minimum of
energy that gradually builds, rather than invoking a big surge of
energy whenever a conventional chiller starts operation. A normal
chiller fires up with a series of bangs and rattles, whereas the
Intelligenzia builds up gradually, while always maintaining optimum
performance, avoiding that energy-demanding start.
Geoff Thomasson continued: "The
programmable aspect is just one of a series of measures designed to
make the Intelligenzia intuitive, cost-effective and environmentally
sound. Crucially too, it does not cost a penny more to buy than
ordinary refrigerators."
The Intelligenzia also has a
maintenance-free condenser: all condensation evaporates on its own,
so there is no tray to empty or waste pipe to connect. Of course, as
a Husky device, the Intelligenzia is manufactured with natural,
CFC-free refrigerant gases. The energy-saving features will also
increase the chiller's efficiency by prolonging the life of
components such as fans, lighting and the compressor.
