It's all change at Ashoka at The Mill as new manager Asha
Bains Majhu has refreshed the popular family restaurant in Darnley on
Glasgow's southside with an extensive makeover, lending it a warm and
inviting atmosphere while complementing its ever-popular buffet and
pre-theatre menu with an appetising new Indian and European a la
carte menu.
The Mill has always been a hot favourite for family dining - the
adjacent Playzone is a magnet for kids and affords parents a rare
chance for peace to enjoy their meal - whilst its mezzanine gallery
area offers a more intimate setting for a romantic dinner for two
served with linen napkins by twinkling candlelight, and the extensive
refurbishment and new menu are already proving a great hit with diners.
Asha was appointed manager of Ashoka at The Mill following her recent
marriage to Sandy Majhu, Director at Apple Harlequin Group, which
oversees the operation of the popular Ashoka chain of restaurants.
She said, "I'm delighted that the changes we've been introducing
to The Mill have won the approval of existing customers and are
tempting new customers to sample the delights on offer in our fresh
and friendly environment.
"While my family background is in the restaurant business, my
own career background is in the caring profession - both as a midwife
and for the Child Protection Unit - which is why managing The Mill
appeals to me so much - it allows me an opportunity to combine my
twin loves for food and kids!"
Overseeing the new menu are two new chefs- chef Hamlal and chef Akeel
- specially recruited by Asha for their expertise and range of
culinary skills.
In addition to such old favourites as Muglai Korma, Bhoona and
Biryani, The Mill is now offering a selection of house specialities
and regional classics such as: Chasni, Rogan Josh; Jalfrezi; Machi
Malabari; Lahore Karahi and Himalayan Hot Pot. Meanwhile, a Tandoori
selection featuring dishes barbecued in a traditional Tandoor oven,
include Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Jhinga and Shaslik.
The Mill offers a variety of eating options, from the renowned Ashoka
buffet to home-style and desi dishes and from a la carte to takeaways
and deliveries.
Meanwhile the popular Mill Room - available for a variety of business
and social functions, from weddings, birthday parties, karaoke and
Hen Nights to corporate conferences and board meetings - has not
missed out on the makeover. The appealing space has been fully
refurbished to exceed the expectations and requirements of event organisers. |
