As the WAGS begin to choose their dresses for the World Cup the team
is demanding a dressing of its own and by name - Cardini's
Original Caesar Salad Dressing.
Cardini's Original Caesar Salad dressing was introduced to the major
high street retailers in 1994 by R.H. Amar & Co Ltd and now more
than a million bottles of Cardini's are sold in the UK every year
also by the 1990's one in four of all salads sold in American
restaurants was a Caesar salad - truely a world class dressing for a
world class team.
R.H. Amar & Co. Ltd, based in High Wycombe, is famous for
distributing fine foods in the UK, and was delighted to be asked by
the Football Association to provide 30 bottles of the delicious
dressing to the England team 'to help them win the World Cup'.
Caesar Cardini famously invented the dressing at his Mexican
restaurant, just across the border from America, on Independence Day
in 1924. Business was so brisk the kitchen ran short of ingredients
so Cardini decided to cobble together a salad from leftovers
including Romaine lettuce, olive oil, raw egg, garlic, parmesan
cheese and Worcestershire sauce. The new dish became popular with
visiting Hollywood stars and is said to have been introduced to
Europe by Wallis Simpson.
Cardini Original Caesar Salad dressing is available from Tesco,
Waitrose, Sainsburys and Budgens, the 250ml bottle retails at
£1.59. Look out for a special offer in Sainsburys during the
World Cup - 2 bottles for £2.50. |
