On Thursday 29thApril 2010, the Indian Ocean restaurant in
Tameside, Greater Manchester hosted a Big Curry charitynight in aid
of ABF The Soldiers' Charity.
ABF The Soldiers' Charity has been giving lifetime support to each
and every serving and retired soldier and their families for more
than 66 years. They help in various areas from debt relief to
education bursaries. The BigCurry is an annual fundraising campaign
from ABF The Soldiers'Charity.
Nahim Aslam, owner of the Indian Ocean says; "Our Big Curry
Charity Night was a fantastic opportunity to enjoy delicious Indian
cuisine whilst raising money for our brave soldiers. So much is asked
of these heroic men and women - we only need to look in a newspaper
to see the effects that the current conflicts are having - and this
is our way of givingsomething back to them.
"We hosted our own Big Curry event to allow everyone, be they
regulars or new to our restaurant, the opportunity to show their
support for our troops. A curry with friends whilst raising money for
charity - it just couldn't be easier could it?!"
The charity night included drinks, assorted canapés, a full
selection of main meals from the Indian Ocean's tasty Punjabi and
Kashmiri menu and traditional Indian and British desserts, followed
by coffee and Kashmiri chai tea. There was also a raffle and live
entertainment from songstress Jennie Bonita. |
