STOCKBRIDGE'S LANCERS RESTAURANT RE-LAUNCHED WITH FULL REFURBISHMENT

One of the premier Indian restaurants in Edinburgh, Lancers, celebrated their re-opening after an extensive refurbishment with a relaunch party on Wednesday 27th April. The restaurant, which is named in the AA Good Food Guide has undergone a complete overhaul to ensure that it relaunched to an excited party of over 50 local business people, charity representatives and the media.

Space Solutions, based in Edinburgh, undertook the interior design of the refurbishment that has seen Lancers in Stockbridge re-open to great acclaim. Carol Leitch, the interior designer who oversaw the re-design ensured the restaurant got a completely new look. "Lancers is being re-launched with a fairly neutral design based around black and white, with the use of military style fabrics to symbolise the colourful uniforms of the Bengal Lancers," says Carol. "This retains the original theme of the restaurant while bringing it bang up to date with a more contemporary feel."

Badrol Hussain, owner of the business said: "We wanted to ensure that the restaurant was as comfortable as possible to dine in. We have stayed away from anything too fussy, as we find our customers are of refined tastes. We are sourcing original art and prints to add a touch of creativity."

Space Solutions has used Dixon Turner Wall Coverings to adorn the walls of the restaurant with digital prints. The flooring has been sourced from Designer Vinyl suppliers, Amtico and focal lighting has been supplied by Decorative Lighting.

The bar area has also undergone a full re-design, complete with Staron counter tops and a full-height upper gantry with back light facility. This was undertaken by Midlothian-based B&S Contracts Ltd. Bruce Brown, Managing Director of B&S Contracts said: "Mr Hussain and his consultant, Dr Wali Uddin, have been great to work with. Although they knew exactly what they wanted, they were willing to listen to us on design issues and we have been able to create a stunning entrance to the restaurant."

No expense has been spared on the refurbishment. Dumfries-based Mauve Furniture was commissioned to produce bespoke chairs for the restaurant. The Rioja chairs are made in Italy with a solid beech frame and covered in the finest Bridge of Weir Fine Scottish Leather. Managing Director Cameron Robertson said: "I was delighted to receive Dr Wali Uddin's order for 70 of the Rioja chairs. The leather he has had them finished in is absolutely beautiful. They were a pleasure to create."

As part of the full refurbishment, the toilets have been removed from their existing position and re-built to create a larger and more luxurious experience for guests. Amtico tiles have been used throughout. The team at Lancers believe that eating wonderful food that is beautifully presented and served in relaxing surroundings is one of life's greatest pleasures. The complete refurbishment of Lancers in Stockbridge will ensure that this is a pleasure that will be guaranteed when visiting the restaurant.

Lancers Brasserie is located at 5 Hamilton Place, Stockbridge, Edinburgh, EH3 5BA. They can be contacted direct on 0131 332 3444.
