& Ginger

Ingredients:

4x175g/6oz

British beef braising steaks

15ml/1 tbsp

corn or sunflower oil

10ml/2 tsp

fresh rosemary (½ quantity if using dried herb)

2 cloves

garlic, peeled and crushed

2.5cm/1 inch piece

root ginger, peeled and finely chopped

100g/4oz

mushrooms, sliced

15ml/1 tbsp

soy sauce

15ml/1 tbsp

clear honey

150ml/¼ pint

beef of vegetable stock

Freshly ground black pepper

Method:

Pre-heat oven to Gas Mark 3/170°C/325°F.

In a pan, heat the oil and fry the steaks briefly on both sides. Lay the steaks in and ovenproof dish large enough to place them side by side.

Mix the remaining ingredients together and pour over the beef.

Cover and cook in the oven for 1½ hours.

Serving suggestion: Serve with brown rice and a winter salad.
