Mokssh
- A New Concept
In
Indian Dining

Mokssh is a stylish cocktail lounge and restaurant offering an innovative food and drink concept, that develops authentic Indian flavours and cooking techniques and breaks away from traditional and outdated views of Indian dining. With contemporary tapas-style Indian dishes and a bespoke Eastern-inspired cocktail menu, Mokssh delivers a destination experience in a beautiful setting, all ideally located on the Fulham Road in Chelsea.

The brainchild of Racchitt Khanna (former Hotel Manager of the Mandarin Oriental), and managed by his brother Rohet Khanna, Mokssh is a family-run establishment recently reopened after an extensive refurbishment. The 75-cover venue boasts beautiful interiors that successfully mix brightly coloured artefacts and sumptuous fabrics sourced from India with modern sleek lines and smooth curves. Mokssh strives to show that traditional Indian dining can be enjoyed in a modern setting. Background music is Bhangra chill out and the venue's low seating harks back to traditional communal eating customs whilst providing an informal lounge atmosphere.

Acting as both a restaurant and late-night cocktail bar, Mokssh accommodates all manner of eating styles, boasting a light lunchtime menu of wraps and salads, an evening selection of mains and a variety of lighter tapas-style options. The food at Mokssh is far from typical Westernised staples of Kormas, Tikka Masalas and Vindaloos, preferring instead to focus on traditional and modern native Indian cuisine by using fresh produce, aromatic herbs and spices and healthier cooking methods.

The majority of the menu at Mokssh is influenced by the tandoori cuisine - the tandoor grilling style not only sealing in more subtle flavours that are often hidden by oily sauces, but also providing a health-conscious aspect to the food, as well as making the dishes more conducive to a drinking atmosphere.

Selection of dishes from the tapas menu at Mokssh:

* Adraki Lamb Chops - £7.75
Tender lamb chops marinated in spiced ginger then grilled to taste

* Dahl Makni - £6.75
Black Lentils and red kidney beans tempered with ginger garlic and spices

*Ajwaini Prawns - £7.50
Succulent prawns marinated in with yoghurt and fennel then chargrilled

Directly opposing the commonly-held pairing of heavy curries and beers, Mokssh's sharing portions and delicate flavours are perfectly complemented by its spice-infused and exotic cocktails and juices.

Mokssh provides customers with a stylish setting in which they can enjoy delicious cocktails and share a wide variety of Indian dishes, expertly prepared and using only the finest ingredients. Based on the Fulham Road and open until 1am, Mokssh is ideal for those seeking a relaxed yet buzzy atmosphere, whilst its flexibility lends itself very well for private functions.
