Triple Success for Top Family Establishment

A leading Edinburgh-based Italian restaurant group is in the running to pick up three major industry awards.

Vittoria has been nominated as Best Italian Restaurant at Scottish Restaurant Awards 2009 while its sister establishment La Favorita is up for two accolades in the Pizza and Pasta Association (PAPA) Awards.

Vittoria is one of three finalists in its category in The Scottish Restaurant Awards, which celebrates Scotland's top culinary talents, creativity and high quality service.

La Favorita has been nominated in the Pizza Restaurant and Independent Delivery Operator categories of the PAPA Awards. The PAPA Awards aim to identify the best and most genuine Italian restaurants from around the UK.

Tony Crolla, Proprietor of Vittoria and La Favorita said: "Receiving these three nominations is brilliant news and is a tribute to the wonderful food we have to offer as well as our first class service.

"We'll be keeping our fingers crossed for success."

Tony added: "We have tried to create wonderful places that people, in particular families, can enjoy. We try to ensure that we cater for everyone no matter what their requirement might be."

In previous years La Favorita has gained huge success at the PAPA awards winning the Gold Award in 2007 and 2005 for Pizza Restaurant, as well as Pizza Designer of the Year in 2005 for Tony Crolla's imaginative creation, 'Pizza Favorita'.

Tony and his wife Angela, run both Vittoria's on Leith Walk and George IV Bridge and on La Favorita in Leith. Vittoria on Leith Walk, which was opened by Tony parents in 1970, is renowned for its food and atmosphere and is a firm favourite among a cross-spectrum of Edinburgh diners, from students to professionals to families.

The Scottish Restaurant Awards will be held on the 27 January 2009 in Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery. The PAPA Awards is being held on the 13 November 2008 in Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
