A
leading Edinburgh-based Italian restaurant group is in the running
to pick up three major industry awards.
Vittoria has
been nominated as Best Italian Restaurant at Scottish Restaurant
Awards 2009 while its sister establishment La Favorita is up for two
accolades in the Pizza and Pasta Association (PAPA) Awards.
Vittoria is
one of three finalists in its category in The Scottish Restaurant
Awards, which celebrates Scotland's top culinary talents, creativity
and high quality service.
La Favorita
has been nominated in the Pizza Restaurant and Independent Delivery
Operator categories of the PAPA Awards. The PAPA Awards aim to
identify the best and most genuine Italian restaurants from around
the UK.
Tony Crolla,
Proprietor of Vittoria and La Favorita said: "Receiving these
three nominations is brilliant news and is a tribute to the wonderful
food we have to offer as well as our first class service.
"We'll
be keeping our fingers crossed for success."
Tony added: "We
have tried to create wonderful places that people, in particular
families, can enjoy. We try to ensure that we cater for everyone no
matter what their requirement might be."
In previous
years La Favorita has gained huge success at the PAPA awards winning
the Gold Award in 2007 and 2005 for Pizza Restaurant, as well as
Pizza Designer of the Year in 2005 for Tony Crolla's imaginative
creation, 'Pizza Favorita'.
Tony and his
wife Angela, run both Vittoria's on Leith Walk and George IV Bridge
and on La Favorita in Leith. Vittoria on Leith Walk, which was opened
by Tony parents in 1970, is renowned for its food and atmosphere and
is a firm favourite among a cross-spectrum of Edinburgh diners, from
students to professionals to families.
The Scottish
Restaurant Awards will be held on the 27 January 2009 in Glasgow's
Kelvingrove Art Gallery. The PAPA Awards is being held on the 13
November 2008 in Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
