THE CITY WELCOMES EXCITING NEW RESTAURANT: CHINESE CRICKET CLUB

Crowne Plaza London - The City, a flagship property of renowned Intercontinental Hotels Group, has announced the launch of a third in-house restaurant. Officially launched on 17 November, Chinese Cricket Club is a destination Chinese restaurant that will complement the deluxe hotel's existing hospitality offering.

Taking on the role of Head Chef will be Brendan Speed, who launched and subsequently ran Zuma Istanbul, helping to turn it into one of the city's leading restaurants.

Brendan's remarkable career has taken him all over the world, from Tanzania to Queensland. This global experience, combined with a life-long passion for Asian cuisine and a desire to experiment with different textures, flavours and ingredients, will all be brought to bear on the menu at the Chinese Cricket Club.

Against a sophisticated yet relaxed backdrop decorated with a warm simplicity, the restaurant will offer a mouth-watering range of Sichuan specialties with a modern twist. Set to become signature dishes at the Chinese Cricket Club are such imaginative fare as Crispy Orange Beef; Fried Perch with Garlic Chives; Orange Rib of Beef and Silken Tofu with Broad Bean Paste.

These offerings are balanced by a comprehensive array of traditional Chinese favourites, Cornfed Chicken and Corn Soup; Twice Cooked Pork and Crispy Chilli Beef among them. The menu also features an excellent choice of delicious dim sum, including Black Cod Gow Gee, Club Lobster Dumpling and Honey Glazed Pork Puff. Perfect for sharing, these smaller portions are also an ideal option for those seeking more speedy lunchtime sustenance.

The restaurant is named in honour of the newly formed Chinese National Cricket team, who this year played their first international match. The title also commemorates the recent translation of the Laws of Cricket into Mandarin by the Asian Cricket Council.

The Crowne Plaza London - The City already boasts the award-winning Refettorio restaurant, directed by Michelin starred Chef Giorgio Locatelli. With the arrival of Chinese Cricket Club, it will further consolidate its position as a destination dining venue in the City.
