The Which?
Good Food Guide, has voted the Box Tree, Ilkley as Yorkshire
Restaurant of the Year 2007 in its new edition released recently.
According to
Which? the individual awards represent, "particular merit and
achievement throughout the year. It recognizes that the Box Tree has
made an impact in some special way."
Andy Turvil,
Which? Good Food Guide Editor said: "The award reflects all the
positive feedback we've had from Good Food Guide readers and
inspectors this year. Lots of reader feedback showed that it has been
a particularly strong year for the Box Tree Restaurant. It is
constantly developing and improving, and therefore we felt it
deserved to be singled out for special praise, over and above its
original score."
Husband and
wife team, Simon and Rena Gueller, took over at the Box Tree just two
years ago. Since then they have been awarded a Michelin star (within
four months of opening), two Egon Ronay stars, three AA rosettes, the
AA Notable Wine award 2007, and now Which? Yorkshire Restaurant of
the Year.
"We are
thrilled," said Simon. "This is testament to the effort
myself, Rena and the team have put in to re-invigorating the Box Tree
Restaurant. Significant investment has meant new menus, new
décor in keeping with the restaurant's heritage and a brand
new kitchen, all of which we are very proud."
"The
Which? Good Food Guide has a formidable reputation and we are
delighted to be listed as one of the best restaurants in the country. "
