Orchid
Group, the company which acquired Noble House Leisure in May this
year, announces a major refurbishment programme for the six fine
dining oriental restaurants within the group: Sri Siam City, Sri Thai
Soho, Sri Thai City, Sri Nam, Imperial City and Pacific Oriental.
The programme,
which sees an investment of £1 million for the first five
restaurants, is underway, with five of the six units reopening from
end October to mid November 2006. A separate investment to the tune
of £1.5 million has been set aside for Pacific Oriental.

Sri Siam City
at 85 London Wall EC2 will be renamed Hokkien Chan and will be
stunningly refurbished, with screens changing the shape of the room
to create an inner chamber and using sheer silks to add richness and
style. Rich, deep reds mixed with bold pinks, dark woods and bespoke
murals depicting dragons and oriental flowers will make Hokkien Chan
a very stylish and contemporary City restaurant and bar. The menu
will be changed away from the current Thai offer to embrace a wider
range of Oriental dishes. The restaurant is scheduled to reopen on 23 October. |

Sri Thai Soho
at 16 Old Compton Street W1 will be renamed Suzie Wong and is
scheduled to reopen on 13 November. Epitomising the luxurious and
gently decadent world of Suzie Wong, the character portrayed in the
famous 60's movie, the new restaurant will capture the colourful life
of a long-vanished Hong Kong, by projecting it into a modern setting
with sheer fabrics, private rooms with low seating, and vibrant
colours. Some features will be spectacular and the overall effect
simply striking. |

Female waiting
staff will wear the high collared form-fitting Chinese silk outfit
which has become known as the Suzie Wong dress. A new, grazing menu,
reflecting the ever-evolving style of modern Oriental cuisine, will
be available throughout the day.
Sri Thai City
at Bucklersbury House, 3 Queen Victoria Street, EC4 will be refreshed
with a short closure towards the end of October. Sri Nam at
North Colonnade, 10 Cabot Square, Canary Wharf, E14, will close
towards the end of October for refurbishment and is scheduled to
reopen on 21 November. The traditional and modern Thai menu will
continue to be offered at both restaurants.
Imperial
City at The Royal Exchange, Cornhill, EC3 is scheduled to close
on 8 January with a reopening date of 29 January 2007. The restaurant
will be completely transformed with new floors, furniture, bar and
reception area, creating a dazzling new look. The private dining
room, which attracts exclusive parties, will be refurbished to the
highest standards, as will the raised platform which hosts some of
the best tables. Fine fabrics and low lighting change to reflect
different moods as the day turns into evening, adding to the overall
effect, whilst a new indoor water feature will add style. The
traditional and progressive Chinese menu will continue to be offered.
Pacific Oriental,
the pan-Asian restaurant and bar at 1 Bishopsgate, EC2, has now
closed completely at this address and will reopen at a new address,
in nearby Threadneedle Street, EC2, at the end of March 2007, with a
separate investment in excess of £1.5 million to totally restyle
the unit.
Firmly
established, very successful and with a loyal clientele, after the
makeover these restaurants will sit at the top end of fine oriental
dining on the vibrant London scene.
