Cookery Class At Café Rasoi

CAFÉ RASOI in Heathfield held a cookery class for 'After Eight Ladies', a social group from Burwash that looks for different things to do each month, and last week they decided that an insight into Indian cookery would be a tasteful choice.

The demonstration was taken by Shah Athar, chef proprietor and KB Rayamajhi, chef, already used to doing school cooking demonstrations, this was their first adult class. The demonstration consisted of a short introduction to all the spices used and the style of cooking to be found at Café Rasoi, then, with the help of a few volunteers, onion bhajies, and vegetable samosas were made from scratch and shared amongst everyone, before finishing off with a demonstration on how to cook with Monkfish.

Various feedback from the evening showed that everyone enjoyed themselves and would recommend both this class and the restaurant to their friends. They thought the class was entertaining and informative, and the food on offer was excellent. Café Rasoi has another demonstration booked next month for 40 persons and a smaller one for 6 girls given to them as a birthday gift from their parents.

National Curry Week is also coming up shortly (October 21st-27th), so look out for more events. Café Rasoi, a sponsor, will be trying to raise funds for Oxfam.
