Owners of Xanadu
Chinese Restaurant in Edinburgh will be giving a unique opportunity
on the 2nd of October 2007 to show that Chinese cookery is not just
about bright colours and monosodium glutamate and more about the
original use of ingredients. Join Irene and Colin Chui to experience
how a delicious traditional Chinese dish can be prepared from scratch
without the additives commonly found in many Chinese dishes. They are
keen to show that by supporting local businesses such as ethnic
supermarkets, you can find fresh ingredients cheaply and locally to
create the perfect Chinese dish.
Irene and
Colin will start by visiting a local Chinese supermarket to discuss
the different kinds of ingredients that can be found there and how
they can be used in Chinese cooking before heading back to their
restaurant Xanadu to show how these ingredients can be prepared and
cooked to create an authentic and appetizing Chinese dish.
In just under
a year husband and wife team Irene and Colin Chui have established
their restaurant Xanadu in the heart of Edinburgh's Meadowbank as a
fine place to go and sample traditional Chinese cuisine. Unlike the
menagerie of Chinese buffet restaurants that have cropped up in the
past couple of years, Xanadu pride themselves on being able to
provide freshly cooked and delicious Chinese food in a calm and
relaxed atmosphere.
Chef Colin
Chui has called upon his wealth of knowledge and skill in Chinese
cooking to create a truly appetizing menu which boasts a fine
selection of traditional Chinese fare and a great variety of
vegetarian and seafood dishes which won't break the bank at a
tempting £9 for two courses. The restaurant seats up to 70
people and opens for dinner six evenings a week and lunch on Fridays.
It is also available to hire for corporate events and private functions.
