La Parmigiana Wins Two AA Rosettes for Second Year Running

La Parmigiana, the longest established classic Italian restaurant in Glasgow that remains under the ownership of the family that founded it, has retained its two AA rosettes for culinary excellence for the second year running.

Established over 30 years ago on Great Western Road by Angelo Giovanazzi, father of present proprietors Sandro and Stefano, over the years La Parmigiana has earned a reputation for being elegant, yet affordable and has won a number of culinary accolades over the years.

Sandro Giovanazzi said, "We're delighted to retain our two AA rosettes which signify that our culinary standards are as high as they have ever been. An essential ingredient to the success of La Parmigiana has been the input of head chef Peppino Camilli, who continues to prepare traditional Italian food using the best fresh British and Scottish ingredients."

La Parmigiana has been the only Italian restaurant in Scotland to be included in the AA Restaurant Guide, The Michelin Restaurant Guide and the Good Food Guide. It recently won The Best Italian Restaurant Award at the inaugural Scottish Restaurant Awards 2008, an award which followed La Parmigiana being named as one of only seven Italian restaurants and three pizza restaurants across the UK to have won Gold Awards by the Pizza Pasta & Italian Food Association (PAPA) in recognition of its exceptional standards.

La Parmigiana is regularly lauded by Italian newspapers and often cited as one of the best Italian restaurants outside Italy. So much so that, whenever an Italian club or national football team plays in Glasgow, La Parmigiana is invariably the first port-of-call for Italian journalists to indulge themselves in a protracted post-match analysis over a fine wine and a delicious meal.
