The 2nd November fiesta of Dia de los Muertos (or 'Day of the Dead')
puts Halloween firmly in the shade when it comes to brightening up
those long winter nights. In true Mexican style, the festivities span
over three days and include feasting, quality time with family and
friends and, of course, the nation's favourite spirit (Cazadores).
Cazadores is Mexico's no 1 premium Tequila; known widely by the
locals as the 'one with the deer on it', referring to its origins in
the highlands of Jalisco. A versatile and fine spirit, designed for
sipping and savouring, Cazadores has three products in its range: the
youthful, un-aged Blanco; the Reposado which is rested for a minimum
of 3 months; and the eldest of the trio, the Añejo, which is
aged for a minimum of 12 months.
The Cazadores Lolita is a tempting and fruity mix of Cazadores
Reposado, pomegranate and freshly squeezed lime juice, finished with
a touch of lemonade and a dash of orange bitters. This contemporary
creation by Matthias Lataille of Green and Red was the winning
cocktail of the 2008 Cazadores Hunt in London. It tastes best served
with a salt rim and a lime wedge, just as they do in Mexico, and is
easy to mix up at home (see recipe below).
