Temperatures were rising in Glasgow last night when 500 guests dug
deep into their pockets at the eleventh annual Hottest Night of the
Year, the annual celebration of all that's best in the worlds of
showbiz, sport, politics and business to raise funds for charity.
Conceived and hosted by Curry King Charan Gill MBE, this year the
glittering event raised tens of thousands of pounds for The Prince
and Princess of Wales Hospice and Help the Aged India after a moving
appeal from pupils at Mearns Castle High.
This year's theme was Slumdog Millionaire and guests were treated to
an entrancing combination of traditional Indian fare and sizzling
entertainment from Dhol Players and Punjabi No1, special guest
speaker Paul Chowdhry and charity auction host Jim Leishman, MBE.
Hottest Night host Charan Gill said, "The Hottest Night just
keeps getting hotter and hotter every year! A big thanks are due to
all guests who dug deep to support these charities and
congratulations to all the winners of our charity auction."
Amongst the glittering prizes guests bid for on the night were: a
metallic blue Mitsubishi Colt CZ1 donated by The Phoenix Car Company;
VIP passes to T in the Park and Day Dreamer, an oil painting by
Scotland's rising art start Frank To.
