The Publication
Menu
Magazine first appeared in 1996 as a newsletter for the members of
the National Dome Grading Scheme, an association of ethnic
restaurants that had been hitherto overlooked by mainstream grading
organisations such as Michelin. The idea of the scheme was to
recognise and encourage higher standards in the
non-mainstream sectors such as Indian sub-continent and Thai.
From this
very humble beginning, Menu grew
on a month to month basis, adding more and more free subscribers and
becoming an authoritative source of news and information in the
multi-ethnic sector.
Menu
Magazine also appeared on the internet as www.menumagazine.co.uk from
January 2000 and climbed to the top of the major search engines,
amassing an impressive 450,000
hits per month from 65 countries throughout the world. Sister site www.menu2menu.com
now has over
1m
hits per month. The site was also rated first of 161,000 websites by
Google for Ethnic Restaurants Food & Drink. (Figures are
authenticated, monitored and provided by Freezone UK)
Now 10
years old, Menu
has
moved forward once more. The
hardcopy format has been dropped in favour of the wider audience on
the internet, reaching not only the multi-cultural restaurant sector
in the UK but all those who have an interest in the wide spectrum of
food and drink news and information, both from within the industry
and end-user.
Menu is a
natural solution for all those advertisers who wish to get their
message across to the ethnic food and drink sector - the only
news-led monthly magazine serving the widest band of ethnic
restaurants and consumers
in
the UK.
