|
Berry Bros.
& Rudd stole the show at the International Wine Challenge picking
up the most coveted title of overall Wine Merchant of the Year.
As well as
this ultimate accolade, Berrys swept the board by also winning the
following awards:
Independent
Wine Merchant of the Year
Specialist
Merchant of the Year - Bordeaux
Specialist
Merchant of the Year - Burgundy
Regional
Merchant of the Year - London
Website of the Year
Simon Berry,
Chairman of Berry Bros. & Rudd, says: "The International
Wine Challenge awards - all six of them! - are a great boost for
everyone who works at Berrys. To have won the overall award for the
second time in three years is clearly a great honour - not only for
us, but also for other independent merchants. If we can triumph over
supermarkets, mail order specialists and the high street, it gives
the consumer confidence to cast their net further when it comes to
buying wine."
Judges of the
International Wine Challenge said Berrys skilfully combined the old
and new and had a great attention to detail throughout every aspect
of the business.
Berrys was
also highly commended for its Wine List.
At the
Decanter World Wine Awards, Berry Bros. & Rudd also won Best
Independent Wine Merchant thanks to its 'terrific range, dynamic
buying team and for being the most complete merchant'.
"As an
all round merchant which also takes on the role of educator to its
customers, it can't be beaten," comments the Decanter judges.
Alun Griffiths
MW, Wine Director of Berry Bros. & Rudd, says: "I was
particularly pleased to see this award go to BBR because of the
comments made by the judges, praising us for the quality of our list,
the dynamism of our buying, the excellence of our customer service,
and the recognition that BBR does far more for its customers than
simply sell them wine".
Berry Bros.
& Rudd also came second in Decanter's Best Mail Order/Online
Merchant, and was the only merchant to have been nominated in two
categories. The judges described Berry Bros. & Rudd's website, as
the "Rolls Royce of websites" and a "superbly-designed site."
