Harlequin
Leisure Group, the restaurant chain run by renowned entrepreneur
Sanjay Majhu, has said 'Hola!' to tapas and brought a taste of
Barcelona to Bearsden with the opening of Las Ramblas, a new bar and
restaurant, purposely designed to embrace the spirit of the Catalan capital.
Named after
the iconic, tree-lined pedestrian street located in central Barcelona
considered by many to capture the very heart of the city, Las Ramblas
tapas bar and restaurant injects an authentic flavour of Barcelona
into the heart of Bearsden's main restaurant thoroughfare in Kirk
Lane.
Comfortably
accommodating up to 100 diners, Las Ramblas features a live kitchen
with Spanish chefs preparing fresh, authentic Catalan cuisine to
order.
The new
restaurant was conceived by Harlequin chief executive Sanjay Majhu,
who, following a trip to Las Ramblas in Barcelona, was inspired to
lavish some £1.4 million on buying and transforming the former
China Experience restaurant into an authentic tapas bar and
restaurant.
Mr Majhu said,
"My first visit to Las Ramblas was an inspirational experience
and I have since returned many times to pick up various items of
crockery and furnishings from the area to lend the restaurant an
authentic flavour.
"The
opening of Las Ramblas introduces a new dining option to Bearsden
residents which I'm sure will prove extremely popular - the
flexibility of tapas means that it is both a great way to indulge in
a delicious snack over a drink or two, or to enjoy a full meal
sharing a selection of dishes amongst friends."
The Las
Ramblas menu features a comprehensive selection of mouthwatering
tapas, including: chorizo frito al vino (spicy Spanish sausage
sautéed in red wine); chuletitas de codero (lamb chops
marinated in garlic); queso de cabra al horno (grilled goats cheese
smothered in sweet chilli marmalade); gambas pil pil (king prawns
sautéed in olive oil, fresh chillies and garlic) as well
specials and seafood or vegetable paellas.
So it's
'adios' to Chinese cuisine and 'hola' to a delectable range of tapas
at Kirk Lane in Bearsden. Viva Espana!
